David Rice
A painter with a connection to both the natural world and urban environments, David has exhibited at galleries throughout the UK and Europe, having originally worked as an art director on various publications such as Elle, Empire and The Sunday Times. This background in visual communication has influenced his approach to painting, allowing him to bring a strong sense of composition and design to his work.
The landscape paintings are primarily inspired by the South Downs National Park. Through rich colour palettes and expressive brushwork, David’s aim is to capture the ever-changing moods of nature.
David also explores urban scenes, seeking out the poetry in city life, and the moments that often go unnoticed. He is particularly interested in the way cities bring people physically close together, yet at the same time emotionally and psychologically distanced.
